Boundless and Bare

Thanjai Prakash is known for his bold stories that talk about the complexities and absurdities in man-woman relationships and the attendant socio-economic issues. Boundless and Bare-1 presents ten stories cherry-picked from his work that offer us a great insight into the lives of the middle-class of Thanjavur in the early 19th century. In “Mabel”, the daughter is attracted to her ill-tempered father and remains spinster for the sake of his well-being. “Prejudice” talks about a woman afflicted with leprosy who draws leaves and flowers on her body to combat her confinement. In “Uncle”, a sexually abused teenager finally finds herself in an unexpected mess. All the stories are feminocentric written in his inevitable style.
