The Book of Rebellion

This book features short biographies of 20 women, queer people known and the unknown, their life stories being viewed from a feminist view and retold in a way how we failed to see. We are introduced to women scientists and entrepreneurs who tirelessly delved into their own inner selves and made discoveries at a time when their entry was denied into educational institutions due to the deep patriarchal mindset. The faces of many people, including Einstein, whom we have been celebrating as icons till now, are exposed. It also offers a queer perspective on feminist understanding. On the whole, it lays the groundwork for rebellious reading by arguing that there is a problem in accepting any intellectual work as it is. Mileva Maric, wife of Einstein, Mary Shelley, wife of Shelley, Sarah Chapman – the match-work activist, Hannah Snell, the cross dresser and many other interesting women find their place rightly in this book.
